The First Sentence Turned Me Off

Read the first sentence of the Introduction aloud. Can we hope for the writing to get better? Stephen Colbert is a comic innovator, a man who dares defy the most sacred of sacred cows, has the cojones of 14 bullfighters, and is a sarcastic gadfly who has earned a place in the ranks of Twain and Socrates. Yes, I said Socrates, biatch. Can we get an editor over here? And yes, I scanned the un-hilarious, un-mindbending text that follows. I don't have it at hand, but it came off like hardtack washed down with salt water. Something like "just a comedian." Okay, you don't get it already. Comedians are followed by Popes in importance, K? Tell me I'm pre-judging this work. Tell me it is a masterpiece that uncovers the soul of wit, the inside scoop, the REAL Stephen Colbert. Please go ahead and do a full review and tell me I'm wrong. Because I can't bear to read another word. Exciting that it's in the *Greenwood Biographies series* of celebrity reviews, like an assembly line, perfected by celebrity HENRY FORD. Did Stephen buy-in to fund his Super Pac or what? Cat Stevens should have advised him about being exploited.
