real design, really hilarious

As a fan of graphic design, universal symbols, and catastrophe, I have now found a book that combines all my interests. Stick man is a goer, and even though he is everywhere, I have never really seen him this up close and personally until now. The typical signs are here; then there are the outliers. The ones that herald the dangers of extreme conditions involving cliffs, heavy machinery, moose, and tanks--those conspire dramatically against this average Isotypical stick man.
This is an excellent gift book, but it is also a great example of wry and real visual storytelling. Very instructive for design students, and hilarious and poignant for everyone.

Derived from real signs

Hilarious.
However, I did notice the disclaimer that the images are "derived from real signs", which suggests that not all of them could actually be fond on real signs, which lowers the charm for me somewhat. I think it would be better if the author could just stick to (pun intended) the real signs, because I'm sure it is possible to find the ones that are just as catastrophe-filled

stick man's bad day = very good!!

this book will be enjoyed by adults and kids!!!!! the very iconic images relate to everyday life and i love how they were employed from stick man getting up in the morning, to his returning home...along the way he had many adventures this particular day....it was good he knew how to read signs to keep out of danger....! this book has charm, danger and sweetness built right in........plus, stick man knows to clean up after a dog... what more could you ask for....
