I have been in this industry for 15 years and found myself laughing out loud at how many similar situations I have found myself in, this book is easy to read and echoes the lives of many. To me McMillan comes across as jadded in much of this book and that too shows how truthful he is trying to be in the telling of it. Worth reading.

A must read for new restaurant owners

Phillip McMillan has written a memoir as a professional Chef. He traced his personal progression from food as fuel to food as an essential part of a sophisticated culture. Phillip has used well chosen examples particularly from the Melbourne, Australia restaurant scene.
Phillip is a chef first and then the owner manager of a small business second, finally he is an engaging writer. This book is a million miles from Nigella - mainly because Phillip could walk into any professional kitchen and start cooking.
Yes Chef!, May appeal anyone interested in the art and science of cooking but every potential restaurant owner should read it at least twice. It does not matter if they live in Ethiopia or Argentina, the lessons are the same.
This book will eventually be considered a classic.
